Volunteering keeps Will connected to neighbours & clients

Growing up, I saw first-hand how much fulfillment my father Bill gained from helping others. He comes from a farming background, where there’s a strong foundation of feeding families and helping neighbours. Volunteerism has been in the roots of our family for many generations. Bill’s wife Leslie had similar values instilled in her. All our lives, they’ve set a compelling example of giving back, and their generosity has made a great difference for many people in Guelph-Wellington.
The core values my father modelled guide us today – at home and in our careers. Our staff at The Mactaggart Team is encouraged to volunteer and help run the Oak Tree Project, our community giving program that supports the core operations of local charities. Through the Oak Tree Project we’ve been affected by the stories of local benefit organizatiobns, and honoured to support some great projects in our community.
We do all we can to give back; indeed, there’s nothing more inspiring than learning – through getting involved, through volunteering – about the important work of local charities. It keeps us connected to our neighbours and our clients at an authentic level, and this makes us better at our jobs – and better people too.
