Habitat’s ReStore Volunteers

Volunteers are the heart of Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore. The active team of 75 vary from retirees to high school students, but they all share a passion for helping others and are often ReStore patrons themselves!
The Guelph team can be counted on to carry out a lot of the daily operations in the warehouse and on the sales floor. The Volunteer Coordinator, Amber Jessop, describes how lucky they are to have such caring volunteers, “each day we are honoured to be supported by the volunteers that donate their precious time towards making a difference in our community as we provide new hope for low-income families.”
Volunteers such as Paul, Wayne and Sulin go above and beyond to ensure visitors have an excellent experience and folks like Dave, Mick, Giacomo, Ray and Wanda, who work in the warehouse, act as role models to younger volunteers, imparting years of experience to the next generation.
Paul (pictured in the middle with Steve and Graham) has been volunteering weekly with Habitat for 2 years. It’s the interactions with others that he enjoys the most. He says, “The ReStore is microcosm of Guelph and you meet different people there. I find it rewarding every time I go.”
Thank you ReStore volunteers for your many contributions. Whether you’re setting up displays, organizing merchandise or helping people carry out a newly purchased item, your enthusiasm, expertise and caring for others makes the ReStore an awesome place to be.
