Our annual ‘Time to Give’ event is … you guessed it, going virtual!

Join us as we celebrate the past and embrace the future. PIN is pleased to welcome speakers:

  • Cathy Taylor – Inaugural Executive Director of the Volunteer Centre of Guelph Wellington, current ED of the Ontario Nonprofit Network
  • Paula Speevak – President and CEO, Volunteer Canada

Inspired by the United Nations International Year of the Volunteer in 2001, the inception of PIN – The People and Information Network (formerly the Volunteer Centre of Guelph Wellington) began as a resource for nonprofits and charities and a central hub for volunteerism. 20 years later, PIN remains a vibrant community connector.

We believe that everyone has the ability to contribute to their community in a way that is meaningful to them. We believe our community is stronger as a result of the powerhouse efforts of volunteers. From informal volunteering acts of kindness, organic movements and initiatives to civic action, formal volunteering in support of causes you feel passionate about and moving the needle on the Sustainable Development Goals, volunteers bring change, they bring care and comfort, leadership and more.

“In 2018, almost 12.7 million Canadians engaged in formal volunteering, with a total of approximately 1.7 billion hours of their time given to charities, non-profits and community organizations—equivalent to more than 863,000 full-time year-round jobs. Today, Canadians are courageously volunteering in the midst of one of the largest health, economic and social challenges of our lifetime.” – Statistics Canada

Statistics Canada also reports “Almost 22.7 million people or almost three-quarters of Canadians aged 15 and older (74%) devoted approximately 3.4 billion hours to informal volunteering in 2018, equivalent to roughly 1.8 million full-time year-round jobs.”

Volunteers have impact. Let’s celebrate together. Join us.
