Ralph is Feb’s Volunteer of the Month

Ralph

“Little did we know that when Ralph Macartney responded to an advertisement, placed on the Volunteer Centre of Guelph/Wellington’s website, we had chanced upon a genuine gem,” says the Heart and Stroke Foundation’s Volunteer Coordinator, Beth Kerr, pictured right.

When Ralph first submitted his application to volunteer, he applied to a receipt writer position, but did this task and so much more. In the past two years he has assisted with Jump Rope for Heart, Big Bike, Fit for Heart, canvassing, deliveries, pickups and of course receipt writing.

Ralph has certainly gone above and beyond receipt writing and Beth says, “He brings with him a willingness to donate his time wherever and whenever he is able.”

A highlight for Ralph has been working with all the supporters of the Heart and Stroke Foundation. “I work with a lot of really nice people,” he says and is adamant to point out that the other volunteers deserve this award too and “the staff are the ones that make it fun to go and help out.”

When Ralph is not helping the foundation, he can be found working as a local cross guard, or volunteering with other causes like the Guelph Public Library’s Giant Used Book Sale in the fall.

Ralph, thank you for your many contributions and for helping the Heart and Stroke Foundation to ‘Create More Survivors.’

A special thank you to Linamar for sponsoring this month’s award.
