Kim is October’s Volunteer of the Month

Kim Timmerman has been a dedicated volunteer with Family & Children’s Services of Guelph and Wellington County (F&CS) since 2002. Kim started at the agency supporting parents and families as a Parent Aide. Her role was to engage the parent and provide support to families identified as being “high risk.” As time went on, Kim became a Volunteer Driver in our Transportation program. Volunteer drivers provide transportation services for children and families.
Kim is a long-standing and valued member of our volunteer drive team. Her volunteer drive responsibilities include; taking the children to school, teens to medical appointments, children who are in foster care to visit their parents, adults to legal appointments and groups. She is patient, kind and dependable regardless of weather or traffic.
The transportation program finds Kim to be accommodating and someone who tries to be available as much as she can to take on drives; she is even known to change her plans to assist the agency. The workers who coordinate the drives describe Kim as always having a smile and a cheery disposition. She is considerate and compassionate towards our clients and is great with the little ones.
Our clients have many challenges and Kim approaches each and every one of them with respect, care, and empathy. Kim shared, “I really enjoy meeting the clients, young and old, I like to show them that I respect and care about them. And it makes my day when the little ones start to feel comfortable with me.”
Kim believes in community and is engaged not only with our organization but was actively involved with her church community to prepare for and bring in Syrian refugees this past winter/spring.
On behalf of F&CS, thank you, Kim, for your dedication to the drive program and our organization. We are grateful for your contribution and the difference that you make every day in the lives of children and families.
A special thank you to Linamar for sponsoring this month’s award.
