Handel is June’s Volunteer of the Month
Volunteer hosts are the heart and soul of 10 Carden as they enable the organization to maintain its day-to-day operations consistently. Handel is certainly one of those volunteers!
Handel has been fully committed to volunteering since the day he walked in. Not only does he carry out the daily tasks of being a Volunteer Host, such as greeting and directing people, providing tours and taking calls, but he often goes above and beyond. He helps connect other 10 Carden volunteers through his networks at CFRU and Innovation to the wider entrepreneurial community. He has been available for last minute ’emergency’ event needs and has swung into action during events, easily seeing what needs to be done and doing it. He also brings ideas to the 10 Carden community that often inspire discussions among staff and volunteers. A perfect example is when 10 Carden created and hosted ‘Fail Night’ in 2015 for the first time, which was a direct outcome of philosophical conversations with Handel about learning from failure.
Community Animator, Joy Sammy, says, “We are lucky to have him as a part of our community! He generates great ideas to help further the work of 10 Carden.”
Thank you Handel for consistently pushing the envelop and bringing new ideas to the forefront! Your creativity and thirst for collaboration are so appreciated.
A special thank you to Linamar for sponsoring this month’s award.
