Funding Announcement

Thank you to our local MPP, the Honourable Liz Sandals, for visiting the Volunteer Centre to announce an exciting opportunity. The Volunteer Centre of Guelph-Wellington is proud to be the administrative lead on this project, along with project partners the Ontario Volunteer Centre Network, Volunteer Canada, Volunteer Toronto and Volunteer Mississauga Brampton Caledon.

‘Volunteers are an integral piece of the fabric of organizations all across Ontario. One of the challenges for organizations is understanding best practices for including these amazing volunteers in the activities of the organization.’ states Executive Director Christine Oldfield.

‘In order to address this need’ Christine says ‘Volunteer Canada launched the Canadian Code for Volunteer Involvement in 2001. The code is a framework for involving volunteers in all levels of an organization. This includes volunteers working in leadership, direct service and virtual roles.’

The funding announced today will allow us to develop and provide access to training on the code, both virtually and in-person, for organizations all across the province of Ontario. This will allow organizations to adopt the standards and to ensure that they are engaging volunteers within their organizations in the best way possible.

The Volunteer Centre looks forward to working with our amazing project partners to ensure this initiative is a great success!
