Walking away from a volunteer commitment, particularly one in which you have played an important role, can be very difficult. We recommend that you talk with your supervisor and make sure to give the organization plenty of notice if you decide to leave. This will allow time for the organization to prepare a replacement. Remember: non-profits appreciate your time, but also appreciate that to care for others you need to care for yourself and your loved ones first.
