Congratulations to the 2017 Winegard Award Winners

The Dr. William Winegard Exemplary Volunteer Involvement Awards are named for William Winegard, former University of Guelph president and former Guelph MP who served as Canada’s first minister of science and as parliamentary secretary to the minister of international trade.

This year, during the March 29 ceremony at the University of Guelph Athletics Centre the awards were presented to:

  • Dr. Daniel Gillis, Assistant Professor and Statistician in the School of Computer Science and the Director of the Physical Science and Engineering Education Research Centre at the University of Guelph
  • Yousr El Sharawy, Political Science Masters student at the University of Guelph, having also completed her undergraduate degree as an international student at UofG
  • Paul Mesman,  Manager, Construction Coordinator in the Department of Physical Resources at the University of Guelph
