Community Dialogue – Volunteer Screening
PIN welcomes you to participate in one of our upcoming Volunteer Screening Community Dialogues aimed at listening and learning to understand the current landscape, gather information and explore the future.
In February 2020, PIN held a large community dialogue on volunteer screening and then the pandemic emerged impacting volunteerism, capacity and operations of the community benefit sector.
In 2020 and 2021, PIN delegated to Guelph City Council on behalf of volunteerism; Council approved dollars up to $150,000 and $120,000 respectively to cover the cost of police for volunteers.
In 2021, PIN presented at the Standing Committee on General Government regarding Bill 13, Schedule 20 to express support for the elimination of levels 1 and 2 police records checks (PRC) yet this represents only 20% of PRCs conducted and does not include volunteer roles that interact with vulnerable persons.
PIN is embarking on in-depth focus on volunteer screening over the coming months; this includes learning and listening.
Please join Emily Vincent, BestMatch Program Coordinator at one of two online/in-person options to be a part of this community dialogue.
